Skye’s 18th Hoopla

The 18th-19th was Skye Silverwood’s eighteenth birthday party. It was so much fun!

The partiers were myself, Skye, Elizabeth, Tessa, Kylie, Whitney, Zayda and Lindsay. We worked on a movie called “The Chronicles of Sorcha IV” in which I star as a mideival cheerleader and an old dead king. I nearly cracked up during my own funeral. After this we played tag in the dark with those fat glow sticks around our necks. I am surprised the neighbors didn’t call the cops-our screaming was so loud! And a game called “crab” which means that everything breakable is removed from the living room and one person is blindfolded and dubbed “it.” It is spun around until confused and then It crab-walks around trying to tag people with its feet. Once tagged, you are It. We also ate lots of fattening things and drank lots of caffinated drinks. Later we made a short off-the-top-of-Skye’s-head movie in which I was a school councelor’s assistant who is left in charge of the high school kids in detention. We get locked in and then we think that this janitor is out to kill us. It was really fun/funny. And as tradition goes, we did pass-along-stories. This is one of my favorite games and it goes like so:

-Everyone has a pad of or sheet of paper and a pen.

-We sit in a circle, usually late at night during someone’s party

-We have five minutes to begin a story out of the blue about absaloutly anything

-When the time rings we stop writing (though you can finish a sentence if necesary.)

-You then pass your notebook to the person on your right

-You read what the person to your left wrote

-When the timer is set again you have five minutes to continue that person’s story

-When time’s up you pass again and again until finally you have the story you began.

-Everyone takes turns reading their own story which is always laughable though some people can’t beleive what others would do to “their baby” such as murder them or turn them into a lizard or a vampire or make them fall in love with a great big fat prince or say something idiotic.

This game is jolly fun. We also have some stories that are pass-alongs that we mail to each other and continue for years and years until they are complete pass-along-novels.
We had a really, really good time. Thanks Skye!

Dance the night away…

Monday night was the teen dance.

I was nervous having not been to one in nearly a year and haven’t practiced any dances since then. But we went, Sabrina, Tessa, Rita, Elizabeth, Skye and I. It was fun! I am glad we went despite the awkward moments. These dances are just oozing with awkward moments, but in the end I don’t regret going. Some of the people are really cool…others are to be avoided unless you want to end up having an anxiety attack. If you want to hear more about this, check out Tessa’s top ten awkward dance moments at
Anyway, we spend most of the time sitting sipping drinks in the sanctuary of the Unitarian church (not that we GO to that church) chatting amongst ourselves and making pretend matches for our friends. We all agree that this one guy likes Sabrina…except Sabrina herself. And then there was this guy who was funny and “free styled” the whole time which was quite entertaining. Contrary to common belief, I am NOT madly in love with him. I stubbed my toe really hard and it swelled up and went all cold. I skipped a few dances but was able to get up the strength to dance the last waltz…which is my favorite.
We usually have to run to the bathroom 2-7 times to avoid particular awkward moments, people, dances or situations. The bathrooms smell really bad and the rooms you have to walk through to get there are creepy with statues and books and brochures which list all of types of people they accept there and all the different books you may hear preached from in their sermons (the bible, the Koran, the book of Mormon etc.) But, the lady who leads it rents out their building and so all of these Christian homeschooling kiddos come and jig.
But over all, we had a fun time, danced to fun songs and overcame our embarrassment by watching our chums do the same embarrassing things.
Have a lovely day (only five until Christmas)
Everly Pleasant
